Overview:
Explore Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter and famous Las Ramblas on a 2-hour private walking tour of the Catalan capital. Visit vibrant Boqueria Market, stroll through Plaça Reial, wander down one of Barcelona’s narrowest city streets, and more.

Description:
Discover the historic heart of Barcelona as you explore elegant Gothic architecture, stroll through hidden squares, and nip down narrow medieval streets. From the Romans to the present day, its inhabitants have left behind a fascinating story. This private tour takes you on a journey through that story, in the company of a private guide that can offer skip-the-line access to the museums.

You will explore Plaça Catalunya and the famous Ramblas, walking past landmark buildings, such as the Liceu Opera House, and watching street artists and newspaper sellers. Listen to the songs of the bird stalls, and smell the fragrant flowers on sale from the flower vendors.

Stop at Boqueria Market on Las Ramblas and wander the stalls of olives, cheese, fruit or fish. Barcelona’s most popular and exotic market, it dates back to the 12th-Century when farmers started to sell their wares in the Pla de L’Os.

Nip onto Plaça Reial and explore the colonnaded square that was inspired by Neoclassical French urban architecture. In the center is the Fountain of the Three Graces and the 2 ornate lampposts designed by Gaudí.

Walk down Carrer Ferran, one of the main commercial centers of the 19th-Century, and pause at charming Plaça del Pi with its beautiful Gothic church, Santa Maria del Pi.

Discover one of the narrowest streets in the city at Carrer Petritxol and grab a local “suïs” (hot chocolate topped with cream). Continue to Plaça Sant Jaume, center of the city’s political activity with the City Hall and the Palau de la Generalitat facing each other across the square.

You will go to Plaça del Rei at the heart of the Gothic Quarter to discover the medieval marvels, such as the lookout tower of King Martí, Santa Àgata’s Chapel and the Saló del Tinell. Visit one of the city’s most beautiful squares at Plaça Sant Felip Neri. Away from the tourist circuit, it is framed by the baroque church of Sant Felip Neri, and the façades of the houses of the shoemakers’ guild.

You will also visit the Gothic cathedral, which took 6 centuries to complete after its original foundation in the 13th-Century. The cathedral is best visited between 08:00 and 12:00 and 17:00 and 19:00 on a working day, if no celebration prevents it.

The tour will give you an intimate view of Barcelona’s core and most historic district, while the guide will provide expert commentary on its fascinating history.
