Overview:
Explore two masterpieces by the architect Antoni Gaudi on a 4.5-hour skip-the-line tour of Parc Güell and the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. Marvel at Gaudi’s trademark mosaics and motifs, such as the dragon statue and serpentine benches in Parc Güell.
Description:
Meet your guide at the entrance to Parc Güell, created as an urban housing development and city park in the middle of nature by Antoni Gaudí for the industrialist an entrepreneur, Eusebi Güell. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Parc Güell is entered via a large staircase dominated by a dragon of mosaic ceramic tiles.
Learn more about this Catalan style, known as “trencadís,” before exploring more of the park’s unique design features on a guided walking tour, including the 86 Doric columns arranged like trees. Then, transfer by coach to La Sagrada Familia, Gaudí’s unfinished basilica in the Eixample district.
Skip the long lines to look inside the cathedral, and marvel at vaults that tower 70 meters tall, as well as the rich ornamentations of Gaudi’s Latin cross plan. Learn about Gaudi’s use of symbolism, and see original drawings and models that follow the construction of the church in the Sagrada Familia Museum.
